NYC now working to a calendar of events, Year 2001 July Sports Tournament scheduled for Sat 21st. Multi media workshop Tues 31st. August Fale pola project ( youth cultural center) completed by August 4, open Aug 11 with youth groups performing tau tala tuai (legends) to end the day the Niuean way. Health workshops - alcohol & cigarette consumption + peer education. The youth want to have youth as resource people on health issues affecting youth. September Action song program to celebrate father's day(Spiritual committee idea) Preparations for constitution October Music in many languages - celebrating different ethnic gropus / heritage here on Niue (service to start constitution celebrations). 3 men canoe + one man canoe races, traditional raft race, Peniamina day celebration. Open youth health clinic at the youth center November recover from constitution December candlelight service (joint effort with NCC) / Xmas in the park(NYC) Our canoe project is a.o.k youth groups working towards target date, constitution. Participation in NYC activities has improved, youth moving towards a common goal, manatu motu, manatu atuhau, at the same time have heaps of fun. |
